About the Position
The Church of St. Martha in Point Pleasant Borough, New Jersey is seeking a full-time Parish Business Manager to serve as a key member of our leadership team. This is a mission-driven role at the heart of parish life, supporting the Pastor in ensuring the smooth, faithful, and financially sound operation of our community.
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Bookkeeping
- Maintain accurate financial records, general ledger, and accounts payable/receivable
- Prepare and administer the parish budget; provide monthly financial reports to Pastor and Finance Council
- Process payroll, bank reconciliations, and coordinate annual audit
- Review contracts, leases, and insurance policies
Facilities Management
- Oversee maintenance and upkeep of all parish buildings and grounds
- Manage vendor relationships and supervise maintenance staff or contractors
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and diocesan property standards
- Coordinate capital improvement projects from planning through completion
Office & Administrative Management
- Supervise administrative and support staff; coordinate volunteers as needed
- Oversee parish technology, communications infrastructure, and purchasing
- Serve as a resource for the Finance Council and Pastoral Council
- Ensure compliance with civil and Church laws and diocesan policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field required
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in financial management, bookkeeping, or operations
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and demonstrated budget management skills
- Experience supervising staff and managing vendor/contractor relationships
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with QuickBooks or ParishSoft a plus
- Practicing Catholic in good standing, with an understanding of parish culture and structure, preferred
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Discretion in handling sensitive pastoral and financial information
Compensation & Benefits
This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications and has a range of 67 – 80k. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, 403(b) retirement plan with match, and paid time off. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check and completion of Virtus training.
