Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Throughout history, the Church has been a steady presence—a source of
faith, hope, and grace no matter what changes the world brings. At its heart
is a calling: to share the love of Christ. To initiate this Jubilee Year, the late
Pope Francis reminded us to “fan the flame of hope that has been given to
us” and become “pilgrims of hope.” Although he has gone on to his eternal
reward, his invitation remains especially meaningful today, as so many
continue to long for connection, compassion, and meaning.
In every parish of our Diocese, we come together—different people, one
Church—united by a shared mission to live the Gospel and care for one
another. That's what the Annual Catholic Appeal makes possible: not just
programs or services, but a living, breathing response to the needs of our
people—spiritual, emotional, and physical. Your support helps ensure that
the light of Christ continues to shine brightly, even in the darkest moments.
Together, we are the Church that forms future priests, deacons, and teachers
for our children. We nourish the hungry, welcome new believers, comfort
the grieving, and strengthen the faith of all who walk through our doors.
Your giſt , combined with those of others across the Diocese, keeps the flame
of hope burning—for today and for tomorrow.
As we continue this journey of faith together, I invite you to join us once
more. Let us be ‘pilgrims of hope,' united in love and purpose, fanning the
flame of hope across our Diocese.
With gratitude and hope,
Most Reverend David M. O’Connell, C.M. Bishop of Trenton
