Rite of ElectionWhat is the Rite of Election? A ritual that marks the Catechumens entry into the final phase of their preparation to receive the sacraments of initiation. The Bishop elects them to become members, following the rite the catechumen is now called "the elect."
Who attends the Rite of Election? All Catechumens who will receive all the sacraments of initiation at the Easter Vigil and their Sponsor must be in attendance. OCIA team members are expected to accompany the catechumen on this day.
Family, friends, and parishioners are welcome to attend.
